bday

Tomorrow is my birthday. “What should I get you?” asked M about a week ago. “Surprise me” I replied. In all the years I’ve been with M he has given me multiple times:
-Jewelery
-Books –Cds-Dvds-Stationery
-Gadgets (ipod, camera etc)
-Clothes and Accessories, shoes included
-Decorative items – artsy things-Teapots for my collection
-Childlike stuff that looks good on the mantelpiece
-Handmade cards, store-bought cards, printed-out cards, flowers, chocolates
-Perfumes, cosmetics
Is there anything else? Inanimate?  A couple of times in the past he called my sister for tips. Then, my sister called me and I told her and she told him but it is getting harder to act surprised. Plus, I really don’t need anything anymore. But I like the fact that he goes out and looks for something and brings it home to me, like prehistoric people used to do–I think.
“I have bought part of your present” he said this evening.
“Lego parts. That’s a first”, I thought and the idea of surprise gifts wasn’t so appealing anymore. As I was flipping through a magazine, I tore out a page and gave it to him.
“What is this?”
“Here, sunglasses. You have never given me sunglasses. I’ve put a tick next to the nice ones”.
But because most of them looked funny with green or orange frames, he thought it was just a joke. Maybe the biggest surprise is that I like these sunglasses after all. I can still surprise myself. I am not that old. That’s the best gift plus a pair of the above sunglasses. Happy birthday to me and happy remaining spring.

Lego parts, now that’s an idea.

It’s so hard getting birthday presents for people who don’t necessarily need anything. But sunglasses are probably useful. Good thinking there, girl :)

Happy birthday, Stevi! (Wishing it today, as I cannot be sure I’ll be able to spend a minute with my laptop tomorrow :) )

I hope in your whole life you will not need anything. I wish you feel complete, happy with what you have, being loved by your family and friends and make others happy just by being you. Happy birthday!!!

Hope you have a tip top birthday tomorrow!
Birthday presents – difficult, my lovely husband once bought me a pillow for my birthday – bless him!
Hope you get that nice fluffy feeling regardless of the gift content!

Chloe, just wanted to say you’re one of the most multi-talented, professional, diversely interested/ing people I know. I’ve been referring your blog to my regular non-blogging kin and people really appreciate your photographers eye! I look over your pictures and writing and how tastefully they are put together and the most eloquent reaction I can put together for it is “wow”. I definitely owe you a CD or two (sorry). Please email your address to me again just because I can’t remember if you moved again or not.

Happy Birthday. I haven’t been over here for a while and am just blown away by your photos. The only think I don’t like is that you make me so homesick for Europe.
