My son took this photo (and I processed it)

There are lots of ways to make a fool of myself and I have tried most of them successfully. There was one tiny area I hadn’t explored, and it had to do with the price scanner at the supermarket, not the one near the cashier (I have spilled water on that), but the one that hangs on the wall and lets you calculate the value of your purchases.
I won’t say what happened exactly, but I almost electrocuted myself and the scanner has been out of order for a week now.
Back to taxi drivers, I met a fantastic one the other morning, who tried to convince me to enroll in a tai-chi class. Apparently his best friend runs this gym and he offers tai chi classes. I said it sounded interesting and I’d think about it and I went on listening to the ipod.
“Want me to take you there now? See for yourself?” he said.
“I am carrying these packages, they are huge. I can’t even move”.
“I KNOW. That’s why I said you should go to this class. Tai chi gives your movements grace”.
Which takes us back to why I destroyed the scanner.  I move like a tree trunk. Woe betide the objects that stand in my way.
At Christmas I got the Wii Fit. It has some yoga poses and I tried most of them but the trainer would always say “your body’s swaying a bit”. I looked more as if I was windsurfing rather than doing yoga.
I have found out that the reason I look okay in photos is because I am still. Being still is what I am good at. My best score on the Wii Fit is at this balance game where you have to sit cross-legged, keep totally still for a few minutes and stare at a candle flickering in the dark for as long as you can while doors creak and footsteps bang in the background. M and my son lose after a few seconds but I am as still as a stone for the duration of the game. Maybe that’s my sport and I am a late bloomer. Maybe I should just sit still more often.  It’s less dangerous for everyone –and everything.
So, after so many years of thinking I am useless at sports, I have discovered I excel at stillness. What are the unexpected areas you excel at?

I am getting the hang of Yoga through Wii Fit. I find that it helps with my posture and my small back problems. Why I found out is that I suck at most of the balancing games including the skiiing ones, even though I think I’m a good skier. Tai Chi might be something we need through Wii.

At the moment, I seem to be finding the previously hidden talent of being unable to find myself a satisfying job. I hope to prove that one wrong soon, though. Oh, and I seem to be doing a pretty reasonable job as a mommy. :-D

I can eat with a fork and spoon in either hand, and I can always find my car in a parking lot, or get to within 10 feet of it before having to look around. I think I could be a very good assassin because at work I surpass everyone at killing time, kinda like where you can sit still and do nothing, I’m sitting down with some slight movement, but not getting anything done either. ;-D

I’m not sure what I’m extra good at…but I love Papa’s response. That made me laugh. I’m about to spend a butt load on a new fancy camera so hopefully I’ll be able to say I’m an excellent photographer. I’m good at being on vacation and like Papa, I am also good at perfecting the art of doing nothing while at work. In fact, I’ve managed to leave one job where I did nothing only to find another job doing nothing yet getting paid for it. I’m a professional web surfer.

I love your new look here and love this post. This is the Chloe I’ve been missing…funny stories about taxi drivers and breaking shit. Welcome back, mama! ;-)

    xo

    hahaahah
Oh I’d love to try the Wii Fit, I’m sure it would make the most uncalled for remarks about my body’s performance. I’m pretty clumsy myself and usually bump against any furniture or doors on my way, it’s a guarantee. I have the bruises to prove it.
I like tai-chi in theory except the one tai-chi master I knew was a complete lunatic and so full of anger issues I doubt he knew what he was doing.

lol at the price scanner incident. Glad you’re okay though. Too bad about the machine.

Ah, you’re funny, sweet girl. My hidden skills lie in yoga-esque directions too! Mainly in contortionism, as I can bend my legs in unusual directions and insert my foot in my mouth at the drop of a hat. Take my last post for instance.

Good to see you back around :)

It turns out I that I am an athlete…just an uncoordinated one…and not good at a specific sport, but rather the short-attention-span collection of things the crazy bootcamp instructor makes us do.

I also excel at not blogging, even before my computer died.

when i first got wii fit, i did really well at the lotus focus. now, i’m lucky to get 30 seconds. i’ve declined in just a month, when i should have been improving.. oh and the soccer balls at the head, i’m horrible at. :)

When i used wii fit for the first time, it said my physical age was 58!!! Mostly i like aerobic exercises and I’m good at hula hoop (maybe some day i’ll become a belly dancer-who knows?). In general, I’m not good at many things. I think i’m a really fast typer. I could be a typing belly dancer!

the hidden skill i was always best at is now called “stalking” in many parts of the world… :( i can’t help it if i can remember trivial details about someone’s life many months/years after i’ve heard them!

    Haha!
That was one of the funniest posts i’ve ever read! Taxi drivers in Athens are incredible (especially in the presence of ladies)
That’s a useful information foreigners should keep in mind, Athens taxis’ are part of the local culture!

Stevi your talent is not only in stillness. Consider very relaxing, funny, Sex & The City-like writing as one of your virtues as well. I always love to read the way you write :)

    Tomorrow’s the 19th of March?
    Hmmmm…
I think i have to remember something, my mind is stuck!
    Oh well :)
