In late October, I went on a little trip to Lake Plastira, in Central Greece. I completely neglected to upload photos because Christmas in the magazine intervened and I had to host a fake Christmas party with all the trimmings (photos of that are coming later on).

The Lake is a place of utter beauty and if you are into that, spirituality too. It’s very hard to escape the spiritual side of nature when you are there. It is so animated, every dewdrop is a whole world. You know me, I love big cities. But I felt so protected there and at times the beauty made me feel awkward and puzzled. Should I take photos, should I hug trees (I didn’t, collective sigh of relief), should I get lost in the forest and never reemerge, should I cry?
I was at a loss, most of the time. The photos have been photoshopped (more of them here). But this was not to make them look better. I did that in order to show the atmosphere and communicate the feelings I had. The camera can never capture what I saw, so, maybe photoshop is of help here. What you see is true. I was there.

Excellent photos! They are so beautiful! And I don’t think an artist ever has to explain photoshopping.

Those are some crazy photos! I love Greece, what can I say?
Oh, so you’ve had Christmas already? I’m looking forward to learning the new decoration trends through you.
’should I hug trees? hahaha’

You know, it’s only because I know better that I know it’s Greece. Those pictures could be Autumn anywhere in Canada. I love the forest pictures most of all, but those two of the lake….
I also like the one of the sheep. It reminds me of a farm where I bailed hay for two summers.

I possibly hug the trees crying!
Ideal atmosphere!
I want to be there!

Found you via La Femme, of Mon Dieu and I’m glad I did. These photos are absolutely strikingly beautiful. The colours, the contrast and texture is breath-taking.
I hope you’re selling these, or copyrighting them, or making a calendar or something - they’re amazing…..
All the best
Miss Smack.

Lovely. I especially liked the pic of the table with leaves on it. It looks so Mediterranean to me. Quiet, off season, my favorite time of year there. I am always homesick for that atmosphere.

Like Crag said, those leaves look really Canadian to me, but maybe I’m just Canadoccentric. I didn’t know Greece had fall leaves like this! Interesting to think you just did pictures of fake Christmas. Magazines make all seasons look so (sur)real. You magazine and advertising people always live at least one season ahead of the rest of the world. We already apparently know that yellow is going to be the fashion colour of this coming spring. Cute shoes btw.
