By the time I was able to get Vicodin (12 hours later) it took 4 OF THEM and 3 hours before the pain subsided even slightly. The darn tooth had cracked down to the very root. My mother (over the phone, in an attempt to make me feel better) said "what did people do back when they were cavemen and they had tooth pain, and I said, with absolute sincerity, they launched themselves over cliffs.
