Do you remember

I remember my mum breast-feeding my sister in a dark room. I was standing at the door. I was three.
I remember jumping in rain puddles with my friend Aki and his sister Fotini. I was three.
I remember my dad giving me lunch in the forest, at the fox’s den. There was no fox but I used to wait for her every day. I was two or three.
I remember my dad bringing me a chocolate dessert in the shape of a little mouse. I was three.
I remember choosing storybooks at the bookshop with my dad. I was four.
I remember asking my dad why he was bald. He used to say the wind took all his hair away.
I remember my uncle driving his big lorry and parking it outside our house. In my eyes it was huge. I was three.
I remember my mum hanging the clothes out to dry and wearing flip-flops.
I remember my fruit cream bowl. It was shaped like a boat.
I remember my yellow mini dress and my white knitted shawl.
I remember my hair being pulled behind into a ponytail. It hurt sometimes.
I remember going swimming with my mum. She used to wear a floral swimming cap. I was three or four.
P.S What is your earliest memory?

Wow, I remember so little of my childhood (or of a lot of my adulthood, for that matter). I have a vague recollection of the neighbor’s kids locking me into a basement…but I’ve told this story in answer to the question, what is your earliest memory, so often that I’m not sure if it’s the actual memory I have now or just the retelling. But assuming it’s true, it’s at a house we moved away from days after my 4th birthday, so I must have been about 3.

Mini Chloe is so cute and with a pose
You have plenty of early memories. I don’t know which of mine is the earliest but I have many. Sometimes it’s hard to tell because memories get mixed up with photographs and I lose track of what is memory and what is fantasy.
I remember being cradled by my aunt while she sang Ave Marias. I remember sitting on my father’s legs in the sun and how his skin was burning. lol I remember being in my Grandfather’s lap while he pretended he was a horse that I was riding.

You are adorable.
I was most likely 3 as I can remember my Mother with my baby Sister Debbie and she is 3 years younger than me
Love you
Jeanne

When I was 4 1/2, we moved from the city to the country. That move forms a clear border between clear memories and hazy memeories. I have some hazy memories of the townhouse and the neighbourhood. But they all blur together in pre-4.
Cute pic, and some nice memories.

What really nice memories and you are soooo CUTE!!! And it’s so neat you want to hear our memories, too! Who wouldn’t be tickled to think back and find their best one(s)?!
My earliest memories as a child were when I was four, when we lived in an adorably quaint little town in a very old, quirky house. My favorite of these memories was when my mom would make a picnic lunch and we’d set out west along Main street, arched with huge, old shade trees. We’d turn right past the brick castle-house to go down the hill, picking wildflowers along the way. Near the bottom of the hill we’d always stop at a little stream with cattails where there was a huge assortment of wildflowers to pick. Then we’d cross the main road and go over to the cemetery where my grandmother is buried. My mom would clip the grass close around the gravestone where the caretaker’s mower couldn’t reach, then she’d fill the canister in front of the stone with fresh water and put into it all the wildflowers we’d collected. And finally, we’d climb up onto a monstrously huge fallen tree and have our picnic lunch before heading back home.

My earliest memory is from when I was 3 too. Must be something that happens to our brains around that age to start properly storing memories. I was in Blackpool (tacky but fun place in the north) and was watching my brother in one of those things where you put your head in a hole in a wall and it looks like you’re in a cartoon scene. If you know what I mean.
One of my friends is convinced she remembers being born. I’m not sure that’s possible though!

I have memories from an early age, but they are mixed up with possibly imaginary content and also with photos.
My earliest clear memory is of being on the playground and suddenly thinking, “Why, I am me.” I had identified myself as a separate being.

First of all, your blog is precious. I love it!
Earliest memories:
After my mom would hang the clothes to dry I would run through them - arms waving - it felt like I was lost in a maze.
Swings, ah the air in my face, kicking my feet into the air with every push.

I found my way to you via Studio Wellspring, and I am so glad I did. I just love this post. The earliest I can remember is when my mom and dad left me in the care of neighbors and went to the hospital for my brother to be born. I was a month or so past 3. I thought the neighbors were more exciting than the baby. He grew on me, though.

The earliest I remember is probably a Christmas morning when I received my first Barbie. My mom and dad had everything arranged so beautifully under the tree. My dad had a movie camera going with these lights that were so bright they were blinding. Those lights sure made everything sparkle though…
Great meme. I enjoyed all your answers. You sure have a good memory.
Hugs,

I remember the terrycloth suity thing I used to wear in the summers, after swimming and playing out in the sun. It was like a shorts and T-shirt rolled into one, brown and with an orange “belt” (pattern) around my waist. I loved it to bits. Literally… I had it from I was about 3 - 5, I think. Thanks for making me think about it again

I’ve got memories of sitting in the back of my parents’ car bobbing my head to “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow. I must have been 4 yeas old.
Thank you for your Greek baking tips, by the way. I just made Nigella Lawson’s damp lemon and almond cake. I hope it tastes good.
May I ask you another Greek Easter question? Would it be considered rude to wear black to an Easter Sunday lunch? I want to look nice and I look nicest (and smartest) in black trousers.
Kalo Pasha!!!

I have just been having this same conversation with people I KNEW when I was making memories from so long ago
Our mothers are also still friends, so they are reminding us of the most embarrassing ones (of course!)
