My Malevolent Disposition

Here’s some ugly food I had in London

Beauty has started getting on my nerves. All the beauty around me. The beauty I see in design and lovely crafts sites. The beauty in food photography. Beautiful websites. Beautiful fashion. I can’t stand all this restrictive gorgeousness. Can’t we be free of it and produce something hideous and interesting?  Without it being stylized again into something beautiful. I am asking myself first, the compulsive embellisher.

No I wasn’t, but I had kept this photo from last time. I’m going sometime this month or early March though.

hehee, yes I sometimes check your webpage and see the naturalness you mention i.e no new posts. I love beautiful things but at this point I am a bit sick of them. It seems everybody is on a hunt to find more and more beautiful things to fill their days.

nietzsche said that we should embrace the ugly.

this can be taken in SO many ways…..the ugly in ourselves, the ugly in the world, the opposite of the shiny surface, etc. etc…

i’m with you on all you said.

Do you ever read Bust magazine? I ask because I’m going through withdrawal since I can’t find it here.

Though of course there is beauty in there, their idea of such is off-kilter and often nearly ugly. (They even once featured a nerdy friend from college in one of their Men We Love issues.)

If you can’t find it (if not at home, maybe on one of your London trips?) let me know and I’ll mail you one when I’m home in July.

I like to have a challenge in finding the beauty in things. I totally agree with you my friend.

How could “Plain truth” have slipped by me? I had trusted Internet Explorer’s feeds check completely! I wish I had one of those personalities that would let me trust it again… >:-(
Anyway, I was delighted as usual. In the attractive display, irony. In the economy of words, abundance. Freedom to move any which-way. We can see the tongue-in-cheek of it, the reality of it, the lightness, the darkness, the question of it. You keep on producing that, I’ve got the repulsive market cornered (just posted an icky piece yesterday)! ;-)

I’m with you on this one. Beautifully written, as always.

Even what could be ugly looks beautiful to me ( I was admiring the pretty tablecloth or bedspread on the second photo…

How are you dear friend? I will e-mail you this weekend.
