This was an unintended hiatus, caused by
-16 pages I had to write for a newspaper, which became 20 in a matter of hours. You may wonder what kind of publication this is that needs 20 pages from me, but I assure you, the answer is “not a good one”.
-a trip I took to that village on Pilion mountain, where I experienced autumn. Autumn and spring don’t happen in Athens, simply because grey buildings don’t turn any other colour.
I was furious the day I returned because I had gone away from the drizzle and the mist and the yellow leaves and I was back at the sunshine state, the city that is stuck in summer. No matter what the weather is in other parts of Greece, Athens is always sunny and warm. There must be a special sunray, permanently directed here.

But I am glad to be back. I could write 16 pages explaining why (one reason being that when I get too close to other people they become scary and I need to run away, another that people are strange when you are a stranger, faces look ugly when you’re alone) but I will simply say it is good to have you on the other end of the line. It is a sunny and warm feeling but of the right kind.

i know! i mean i imagine so. as soon as we entered athens i sulked. i think it is so limiting to our imagination not to experience the change of seasons. It didn’t use to be like that. We used to have proper autumn, i do remember it.

I love the autumn colours in the mountain too. I am planning a trip to Mt. Holomon in Chalkidiki on this weekend.
Your pictures are great!

You always make me laugh with your dry wit (it’s what they say, dry wit, it doesn’t sound too nice but it’s supposed to be).
It’s good to have you back in the Athens oven
Over here, many leaves are still green, Autumn is slow to come because it rained more than usual in the summer.

There are some very strange people in this world. I don’t think anything will ever change that.

I love that first picture. Beautiful.
What newspaper prints a 20-page article? I am curious. Hope you were getting paid by the word.

I’m pretty sure that the sun only shines on Athens. All other sunlight around the world is simply a reflection of the sun off of Athens. And the moon is the reflection of the reflection of the sun in Athens. Check the astronomy books.

That photo, the walls, the dead leaves and the green, is outstanding, a classic
