The 26 hour day

Today was one of those days when you start making a list of the things you have to do, and you are surprised you don’t have to create the world from scratch.
I cleaned the bathroom (it was part of my “Clean the whole house for the summer and throw away most of my stuff” project).
I went shopping.
I cooked.
I hung two piles of clothes out to dry.
I studied and printed several marketing articles and met my friend Anna to talk about our online deli. We decided to take part in a couple of London food shows this autumn.
I went to the pool where my son is going to have his nameday party (we had skipped his birthday party because we were in London). I had to decide whether to offer guests souvlaki or hamburger. Well, neither. When I say pool, please don’t visualize a Paris Hilton kind of party, okay? It is a kiddie pool, no skimpy bikinis, no vodka, no drugs.
I wrote the invitations for the party and stuck numerous stickers.
I cooked again.
I read to my son and put him to bed. As he was falling asleep he said “the universe happened when a bubble collided with another universe”. Okay.
I forgot to mention that very early in the morning, I managed to watch one episode of Six Feet Under on DVD. A great way to start the day.

All these, are the products of no sleep and no 9-5 job.

If the day had 2 more hours, what would you do?

Songs of the day
(imagine the pool, no kids, many cocktails, maybe the Love Boat sailing in. It could, after several cocktails, couldn’t it?)

Morir de Amor – Celia Cruz & Compay Segundo
Las flores de la vida – Compay Segundo
Silencio – Ibrahim Ferrer

I’m going to listen to those songs write now - today it’s like winter over here, I need some cuban feeling :)
You make me feel guilty by doing all those things in a single day. But I love the idea of the food shows in London!
What would I do? I imagine I would do more of what I do now, which isn’t much. lol

Chloe, that song “Morir de amor” is so sad and beautiful. I’m all emotional ;)

  3. Chloe Says:

    that’s why i said it’s all because i don’t work 9-5. i did most of these between 9 and 5.
yes, it is a sad and beautiful song. that’s why you need cocktails. i’ve been listening to it non-stop for a couple of weeks now. To die of love. But it sounds so flat in english.

What would I do if the day had 2 extra hours? On the very first day with a 2 hour surplus, I’d use 30 minutes to contemplate what I can do, then spend another 30 minutes to prepare, then use another 30 minutes procrastinating, then use the last 30 minutes to sulk and reason that there’s just not enough time in the day to do anything.

What would I do with 2 extra hours on the second day? I’ll tell you when it comes. ;D

Two more hours??? Definitely sit down…Maybe go have my nails done and treat myself to some delicious chocolate.

    Does that sound good?

    Hugs,
    Connie

oh, two more hours sounds heavenly. i could use some sleep.

on the other hand, knowing me i’d probably spend all that 2 hours traipsing around the blogosphere. its so not good for me, this blogger insommia, but i can’t help it. i think i need a support group. hehe. anyone want to join me for a group rate? ;)

Treasure all the golden moments with your son.
They are fast and fleeting and so very precious.
I love your photographs and to hear all about your life.
    Love you
    Jeanne ^j^

I think I banalized english - I used to think it was beautiful and exciting, but now writing and thinking so much in engligh has made it too familiar. That’s why it sounds ‘flat’ now …Let’s speak Greek (oh I wish lol)

Your summer project (re: cleaning house and throwing stuff away)is an inspiring idea. I TRIED to have a garage sale toady to get rid of stuff, but it rained fearsomely, so I had to cancel it. Sigh. Maybe I’ll go do some housework instead.

But if I had two more hours in the day to do what I REALLY wanted to do, I’d probably try and finish the book I’m reading. It’s a good book, but I can’t seem to find time lately to concentrate on it.

I would exercise more. WAY more.

And I’d take the long way around to get places.
