Go Liverpool

I don’t know whether any Milan fans read this blog. If you do, I am sorry Milan fans but I don’t want your team to win the Champions League Final. I want Liverpool to win. Because I’ve always supported Liverpool ever since my cousin taught me that in fact Liverpool was the English equivalent to Olympiakos (the Greek team of our choice, also the “reds”). So, Liverpool must win:

Because Liverpudlians are loud and passionate, or so I’ve been told -no Liverpudlian has ever been passionate or loud to me.

Because I like English people in general.

Because Carlo Ancelotti is so obnoxious.

All the above reasons have nothing to do with football and rightly so, since I know nothing about it.

In other news: The Beastie Boys are coming to Athens. I’ve been waiting for them for more than 15 years. I think it’s a fairly steady love affair. When I saw the poster on a wall I was thrilled. Naturally, I told my sister.

Me: YES! The Beastie Boys are coming to Athens at last.

Sister: (looking at me from head to toe, that’s a subtle comment on their music vs my age – I am wearing white shirt, black skirt, black kitten heels) Are you going like THAT?

Me: Yep. The Beastie Boys must not have delusions about their fans. We are not wearing Licensed to Ill t-shirts anymore. We are OLD.

I’ve never understood why Olympiakos are Liverpool too. I’ll stick with the former. Heh :)

  2. Chloe Says:

maybe because Liverpool is a port too as is Pireaus? With everything that this fact entails. And we share the same colours. I really can’t find other reasons but it is true that most Olympiakos supporters are also supporting Liverpool.

  4. Barrett Says:

Well, I don’t want any team to win tonight, as far as I’m concerned, they can both draw or even lose lol
But it’s a chance to see that beautiful Olympic Stadium :)

Football and music…two areas where opinions matter! I hope your team wins, and the music rocks even more in person!

    You are not OLD!

    I like English people,too.

  12. Fuff Says:

I think it’s probably something to do with Olympiakos and Panathinaikos (spit) always being at the top of the league, hence Liverpool and Manchester United too at the top being matched. Pity they lost though.

  13. Connie Says:

You go to that concert and have bunches of fun.

    Hugs,
    Connie

Liverpool lost. Suckers. I am still hoping for the music though.

I am old only in the sense that i can’t wear Licensed to Ill T-shirts anymore outside the house. They are okay as pyjamas though.

    Fuff
Milan won, that’s worse than Liverpool losing the game.

    Connie
Thanks Connie! It’s a month away but i am getting ready for it. xx

I am a hereditary Chelsea supporter. It’s a family allegience.

Given in deep-seated animosity between Liverpool and Chelsea, I’m not sure we can be blogfriends anymore. Luckily, I follow ice hockey far more ardently than football, so I don’t think our teams’ rivalry wil get in our way.

  16. Clare Says:

I wanted Liverpool to win too since I was there during the day. The city was full of red shirts and happy people. What a shame they didn't win :(.

I was watching in an Irish pub in San Francisco. There were 4-5 Italians there (and the referee…) and about 200 Brits & Irish. And 1 Norwegian  :)  We sang all the songs and were all very proud of our team, even though they lost! And I'm seriously considering a Liverpool tattoo… My hubby'll let me if he can get one at the same time   :)
