My Malevolent Disposition, Nature

Nature, it’s over between us. Because:

a. You are extreme, you were made that way. Too cold, too hot, too wild, too many bugs, rude mice, pronged twigs, thorns, spiky bushes, an assortment of stones, mud, animal poo.

b. You are like a pill some people have to take every morning. It’s not your fault, it’s theirs, I admit that. But they make you look bad, nature. People who HAVE to be out at a certain time, every day and take certain steps and see certain things, because it is GOOD for them, no I can’t stand that.

c. Manmade things appeal to me most. They say you were made by someone cleverer, so it’s no wonder you are so beautiful. But we people are so little and limited and the fact that we were able to make bridges that look like they are hanging from the sky, amazes me more.

d. Okay, because I am lazy. I like what you have to give me (food, I like food) and I respect you and promise to always protect you from harm. I recycle plastic bottles, paper and cans and I sometimes make my own detergents out of vinegar and soap. But being lazy means I don’t like climbing your mountains and walking where there is no clear path and meeting your creepy crawlies, who totally belong with you (not with me though).

e. You are analog. I would love you more if your trees had USB ports.

    What a declaration!
I on the other hand love nature. In my old age, I will move into a cabin on a mountain with no one around for miles (or kilometers). Somewhere within the cabin there will be plenty of USB ports though…

    You are so funny :)

Best come visit me now then, while I live in the city. Though you are always welcome to come to my cabin in the foothills of some mountains somewhere - nature is also well-viewed from the comfort of a cozy porch, cup of hot chocolate in hand…

Chloe, you are indeed a wizard! The magic you weave with your words and photos…

…don’t give up on nature just yet…

I draw two conclusions from your post:
    a) you missed your computer…I know what’s it’s like!
    b) that part of Greece has a very raw and conserved nature - man has a way to make nature more pleasant, making paths and all that…so that people can enjoy nature and say how wonderful it is…But if you ask me…those raw places are much needed - the aggressiveness of nature is also a way to make mankind respect it.

You can always download nature jpegs. They’re considerable less rough and demanding, I find.

But you know I prefer being on that pill. No, I don’t have a problem, if I don’t want to admit to it!

so so awesome!!! oh my gosh! i prefer the city and manmade things, too. and anything with a USB port rocks my world. nature is best in nice controlled doses. parks are nice, where my car is always parked not too far away. i can escape as soon as i need concrete and window glass again….

I agree with you about nature. It’s fine, so long as I don’t have to be in it.

    Ah, that is so funny.

While I’m a tech-addict too, I just can’t be separated from nature for too long. Cities leave me restless after a couple months.
