Two changes in this blog: I have 45 songs to fit in that CD so I am going to start burning tonight. Therefore what is done is done. Second, while I was sleeping, someone sent me 22 spam comments. Now you know I have issues with sleep being an overestimated bore and a waste of life. Still, I consider it a personal insult to be spammed while sleeping, because I sleep so few hours damnit. Spammer, can’t you wait until I am awake? Do you have to backstab me like that? So, friends, you are going to have to type that awful word verification thingy for a little while. Or until that spammer goes away (Spammer, “here are some links that I believe will be interested” is wrong. Try “interesting” instead). The reason I am doing this is because I am going away on Sunday and I do not want to return a week later to 120 “here are some links that I believe will be interested” kind of comments. This is where I am going to be. It’s an island, Kythera, and we’ve been told it is very beautiful. I’ll be glad to send you postcards, so if you want them email me please. Scroll a bit up, up, up, there, see? My email. P.S I uploaded a picture of my new born nephew. If you like tiny babies, here he is

But why the photograph of a street light?
Street lights are actually very important politically.
Here are some links that I believe will be interested.
August 9th, 2006 at 11:28 am
this is a street light in an outskirt of Athens, and its only political significance is that it is made to resemble a parisian street light, so it is kitsch.
But i found the article about Liberia interested nevertheless.
August 9th, 2006 at 11:28 am
I received one of those same
comments as well -
curiously - i was not interested
either…
beautiful baby Chloe - peaceful -
a little beam!
smiles!

I have been lucky (thus far) without the word verification on. I would agree to have it on while on vacation. Oh, we’ll miss you!…
And yes, I’d love a postcard, thank you
August 9th, 2006 at 11:41 am
what a beauiful baby! lucky you going to Kythera! you will have wonderful time.

August 9th, 2006 at 11:56 am
The baby is so petite
That greek island brought tears to my eyes, it’s wonderful. It must be hard choosing a holiday destination in Greece with so many tiny and lovely islands
How are the 45 going to fit a cd? I’m worried about you, it’s too much work, too many songs, too many cds :/
August 9th, 2006 at 12:02 pm
I don’t mind the word verification thing if it keeps the spammers away. Hope you have fun on your trip! I’ll be leaving Sunday for a little holiday too
August 9th, 2006 at 1:57 pm
I don’t get any spam. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s my musk.
August 9th, 2006 at 2:33 pm
Funny Christopher, because I always imagine you having a Spammy musk.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:39 pm
Chloe, that picture of the WATER. the COLOR . AHH!!! how soon can i get there? i have to have a postcard. you need to start a paypal fund to pay for stamps, cds, etc..
your nephew is teeny and precious. i love him. (although i am glad i am done with babies)
August 9th, 2006 at 4:06 pm
I can’t stand Spam–the food nor the internet stuff.
August 9th, 2006 at 4:14 pm
I don’t mind typing a few letters in a box to comment here. Anything to keep evil spammers at bay.
Have fun in Kythera!!
I was going to do the “Here are some links…” joke but Keiran beat me to it. -_-
August 9th, 2006 at 5:02 pm
hey chloe, friend of gina i love the street light. makes me think of perfect night somewhere. some day. you are so funny i cant wait to keep reading you…
August 9th, 2006 at 10:11 pm
It’s worth the minor inconcenience of Wordv. I use it sometimes too.
August 9th, 2006 at 10:57 pm
I hope you have a wonderful time on vacation. Just the island name Kythera sounds beautiful.
Love that baby!!
Hugs,
Connie
August 9th, 2006 at 11:20 pm

Zona invents a new game!
August 10th, 2006 at 1:37 am
I want to go to the island too!! It looks heavenly :o)
Beautiful tiny baby…..such an angel
August 10th, 2006 at 4:01 am
Spammers are the scum of the earth. I don’t mind typing the code Chloe.
This CD is going to be..well eclectic to say the least judging by everyones choices.
August 10th, 2006 at 4:19 am
The pic of Kythera looks beautiful.. We can even see the sea bed in the photo. I am green with envy
August 10th, 2006 at 5:53 am

have a wonderful holiday!
August 10th, 2006 at 12:03 pm
Hey Chloe, what a pretty new banner you have! Bloody spammers! Tisk tisk.
August 10th, 2006 at 1:31 pm
I don’t have problems with Spam or with obscene attacks because I post on TypePad. It’s cheap, only $5.00 American/mo. if you live in the U.S. Don’t know what it would cost elsewhere.
I’m not very cybersavvy, so this is perfect for me. With their setup I can easily eliminate single posts or block posters altogether. I haven’t had any Spam in ages.
This and that:Adorable baby!Just perfect! I am expecting another grandchild soon and am very excited!
I hope your holiday is wonderful!
On kitsch: if the street lamp is kitsch, then everything in the U.S. that looks European would have to be kitsch too. I think of kitsch as stuff like Hummel figurines and Kincaid paintings.
August 10th, 2006 at 6:06 pm
Does anyone else, when making cd’s, try to “fit” the songs together?
By that, I mean putting things together that sound well when one track finishes and the other begins?
I mean, putting “I Should Be So Lucky” by Kylie Minogue next to “Ace Of Spades” by Motorhead DOESN’T work!
My word verification: IBPEMWN
Make a word out of that!
August 10th, 2006 at 7:01 pm
Better to type a few letters if it stops you getting spammed.
Have a great holiday.
August 10th, 2006 at 9:22 pm
Yes — I LOVE babies! I’m happy to have discovered your blog today, via Cathy. Funny — I just recently posted about Greece, on my first list of “50 things about me…”

Have a good trip, Chloe.

sophie
his parents say he sleeps all the time. i am sure newborns know more than we do.
Cathy
and i will miss you. But i am going to be taking notes and report everything back! xx
Natalie
thank you, people say it is beautiful there and that the food is great, so we are hopeful.
Devil
they’ll fit because they are mp3s and i am going to keep them that way!
Stephanie
Sunday night raise a glass for me, i’ll raise a glass for you
Chris
i am sure your musk is at the same time lovely and spam repellent.
Gina
sometimes i think i am done too, but i see babies and know i am not.
we can go to Kythera when you come to visit. It’s not close to Athens, but Athens is not pretty, so staying here the whole time is not fun.
Angel
i have never tasted the food but i have tasted the internet stuff and it’s not good.
Erikku
thank you xoxo (for typing the letters and for the wishes)
Kellbryan
that’s the biggest compliment, am i funny? really? people here roll their eyes when i talk.
justacoolcat
you know, it wasn’t the spamming that hurt me most, it was the bad grammar.
Connie
thank you!
i’ll be thinking of you (when i see flowers i think of you)
Gina
that’s when i become funny, after 3 glasses, (it’s the point of no return). xx
Zona
you are talking at last
michelle
i’ll bring back photos!
Ben
eclectic, hm, yes.
it’s not that it has musical merit, it’s just a sample of who we are.
Wriju
don’t be! i read your travelogue. It’s like a fairytale.
Yuva
welcome!
i am not english, i just write in english. have a nice journey.
Sunbeam
i will
thanks
maja
welcome back maja, we missed you. xx
hattie
thank you
I have a Typepad blog, it’s my cooking blog (bread and butter) and i don’t have any spam problems there.
But Froth needs to be separate from that blog because the cooking blog is also known to people i work for.
A new grandchild, that’s great news.
I am always amazed by their eyes when they are very little. They seem to know everything and they look wise. And as they grow, day after day, they seem to lose some wisdom and look more babyish and pure.
Norton
i always try to do that. i am not sure i am going to be able to do it this time. the songs are too many and too much, erm, variety
Clare
thank you!
Carol
welcome! I read your 50 things. Well here’s the answer to that: It is and it isn’t. Some parts are more beautiful than in films, like some islands, some villages on mountains, some places with antiquities. But some are worse than you could think. Dirty, crowded, ridiculously expensive, hot, with rude people and no services.
Crag
thank you Crag xxxx
August 11th, 2006 at 8:52 am
Oooooh, Chloe, do you have room in your suitcase for me … I wanna come, too !!!
Hope you have a great time away.
Don’t worry about the word verification thingy … I have had mine on again now for some time, for the same reason. Shame those rotten spammers have to spoil things for the rest of us, though.
Have a great weekend.
Take care, Hugs, Meow
August 11th, 2006 at 1:37 pm
I cannot believe Michelle wants to go to your island considering the beauty of where she lives. You know I am going to have to send you a can of Spam. Do not give a bit to those gorgeous children you photograph. I have no clue what it would do to a young body.
My word is appropriately ‘boxop’.
August 11th, 2006 at 2:09 pm
HI! Have a great weekend!
August 11th, 2006 at 3:17 pm
No issues with wv at all for me - especially if it’ll keep the spammers at bay! I actually had one figure out how to bypass even wv and when I said I’d not post any more of their comments (I also use comment moderation)-they actually tried to argue with me! Imagine that! How rude…and how silly. Anyway - congrats on the nephew. How adorable! And on the CD-even as eclectic as it will be, I’m looking forward to it merely because it will always represent the favorites of all within my “virtual community”. How awesome!
Oh-my wv is “oymxkn”. Oy Mexican? teehee…
August 11th, 2006 at 3:21 pm
What beautiful baby. Hope you have lots of fun in Kythira. I get those spammy messages too. Grrr, but loathe WV
August 17th, 2006 at 5:15 am
yeah spamming is indeed a big issue so we don’t mind doing that word verification bit as long as we are filed in from your side with your beautiful posts:)
August 17th, 2006 at 2:41 pm

August 21st, 2006 at 7:25 pm
Adorable, adorable baby… hope the trip is/was fabulous!
