My Malevolent Disposition

Dear agony aunt,

Last night I was home alone. I realized I hate having a bath when I am home alone. Somehow this crazy image has entered my head (I do not watch TV, at all): In the image, I am having a bath. I am closing my eyes because shampoo and water prevent me from opening them. With my eyes closed, I hear the bathroom door open and a bad person (not Anthony Perkins) approaches me with an axe. I can’t see the axe but I know it’s an axe, don’t ask how. What should I do about this grueling problem? Please note I love taking long baths late at night, early in the morning and in between. However, having to close my eyes makes me nervous. Should I perhaps wear goggles in the bath? Thank you for your patience,

Marion Crane

    Lock the bathroom door!

(I have this ame problem when I shower at home alone…I imagine the door opening and the person doesn’t necessarily have an axe; but it’s not a good feeling. Thank you Anthony Perkins.)

Have you been to the doctor yet?

  2. Fran Says:

I was going to write the same as Cathy.

Other option: lock the silence. Use music. With music all around you should be able to feel less worried about door or steps sounds. Or may be no… ;-)

I use to hate taking showers when I was alone. I got use to it though. But sometimes, I still get a little freaked.

    Works every time.

Do as I do…keep the bathroom door open, so you can hear better if someone enters the house. And I believe this fear is good…it keeps us from falling asleep in the tub!

Bring an axe into the tub with you. Works for me.

I have issues too….I don’t like being alone in the house at all. My grandmother says “trust the lord to protect you, but keep your doors locked”

    Take really quick showers !!!

Keep an ax of your own concealed under the soapy water, ready to swing for just the right moment. That could get messy though.

Crap, Greg gave my suggestion first. I should read the other comments before I post my own. -_-
