Motherhood

graffiti on an athenian wall

Happy Mother’s day to all mothers (my mother most of all) and mother figures out there. If you care for kids enough to give them love, protect them and encourage them you are mum enough for me. There is little biology in motherhood.

Id be a good mom! Biological reasons stop that though. Our mothers day was a while ago, make the most of yours

i know you’d be a good mom, and a good dad too.
your mothers day being different than the rest of the world, is another thing that makes the british special, along with driving on the left hand side of the road.

Happy Mother’s Day, again and again, sweet friend.

My mother was not nuturing nor encouraging. I still gave her a card and a phone call, but she was still snappy and disgruntled to me this morning. “Your sister took me out to dinner and shopping last night”, she told me.

Last week she told me that she did not want to celebrate Mother’s Day; no cards, gifts etc., that she was too old for that now. She says and does things like this frequently and I’ve learned to ignore it, but this time, I thought o.k., but brought her a card and the phone call of course. But now she is angry becuase I didn’t do something more, like my sister did. I am tired of her crazy mind-games that my sister seems so capable of ignoring.

My son gave me a bag filled with homemade things and a questionnaire that he filled out about me; I will post about it later today.

I wish I were there to go for coffee and sweets and have a big long talk about everything and nothing.

Hey Mama, I like your new ‘books I want to read’ section. You are a fun mom who does lots of things for her little boy, keeping him entertained, safe and well-educated. Keep it up!

Happy Mother’s Day Choe! I have no idea when Mom’s Day is in Denmark (even though I live here…sad, I know), but luckily my Mom’s Mom’s Day is definitely today, too!

And you’ve had a run of the most sublime photos…

    Cathy
i wish so too. you have no idea.
I also wish your mum wasn’t like that. I hate mind games when you make others go through tests of loyalty. Especially if they are your children.

    Happy Day to you, Chloe.

Our 3 yo son gave Holly a homemade soft jazzy Diana Krull cd (Hol does 99% of the childcare).

The other day Jordan referred to us as his parents to his new 5 year old friend Thomas. We were soooo astounded, amazed, and pleased. We have never told him that we are his parents. We always refer to his mother as Momma Libby and his father as Daddy Matthew. We encourage relationships with them (though Matthew has long ago disappeared). We tell him that his (bipolar) Momma is too sick to take care of him and that we are lucky to be the ones to do so. He is too young to understand anything more complex. We are apprehensive of the questions J’s going to ask when his brand new baby brother H grows a little older and J wonders why H is living w/Momma Libby. But we have some time to figure that one out.

So thank you for your kindness in acknowledging all families. Our son gives and receives more love than a basket of kitties.

Speaking of which, our youngest cat Sammy gave us 2 orange babies 2 weeks ago today. PURR

it is not kindness, it is the truth. He is so sweet though to have come to his own conclusions about who his parents are. that’s the best mothers’ day gift ever.
2 orange kitties! lucky girls, lucky Jordan.
