Last night’s concert. The groups are not famous, but the people danced and enoyed themselves.
It’s really interesting. We are at the 4th European Social Forum, that is taking place in Athens this time. It is so refreshing. People from all European countries and from the rest of the world have come to discuss activism, social issues, ecology, human rights. It is nice to be drinking my -fair trade - mango juice and hearing all the different languages around me. M is thrilled. He lives for that kind of thing. He is a team player, he believes in people acting together. I like teams but I perform better alone. Of course not in the war against GMO food. I mean, generally.
Is anything going to come out of this? I think yes, many things, the most important of which is participation and the sense of belonging somewhere. On this earth, preferably. I am interested in a Fair Trade discussion that is taking place in a while and in Greenpeace’s GMO seminar. I don’t agree 100% with all the causes that are represented here, but I don’t feel I have to. There is also food from all over the world, exhibitions and concerts. I managed to turn this anti-capitalism festival into a shopping spree. I got handmade things for the house, fair trade chocolates, a T-shirt (M’s), organic bread, and M got a disgusting smelling coffee substitute made of barley, chicory and figs. Yes, figs.

That’s so cool! And it’s great that you’re taking your son with you - he is starting early. The food looks delicious
I especially liked that sculpture, it’s very reflective of our society and sad at the same time.
You’re bound to bump into some extremist types over there, so I’m glad you know you don’t have to agree on everything.
And everyone seems to be having a good time!

I consider myself to be a moderately progressive type guy, but I am lacking in political rally attendance numbers.
There is nothing wrong with figs.

you *can’t* agree 100% with everyone there. because there is a certain point where you go from common sense to wing-nut and it’s a personal line that gets crossed. the closer you get to extremism, the less likely you are to agree.

What a wonderful event; I would love this. Let’s save the world, Chloe xo.

See? Fun after all, except for the fig coffee. “Figgee”?
I think the idea is that you don’t have to agree with all of them, we just have to co-exist peacefully, right? And of course organize together for the important things we DO agree on.
Thanks again for your company and I’m really loving the radio thing

I don’t think there can be a substitute for coffee.
It must have been a joy to participate in one of these. I think one thing many people will walk away with is a sense of understanding about other nations, something important in unifying everyone. I would hope that in that sort of carnival like atomosphere that no harsh words or hostile attitudes were shared.

It seems to me that you always have something very interesting going on where you live. I would really like being able to educate myself on certain subjects along with sampling some wonderful greek food.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Turning an anti-capitalism festival into a shopping spree. I’ve done that before. I am largely in sympathy with the anti-capitalism movement (seen as a general thing), but am always amused at the fact that it, too is something that is sold like a can of Coke.

I like M’s t-shirt.

There is a new wave or movement that is coming, I thnk, that focuses on togetherness and working toward harmony irregardless of where you come from…Its all beacuse of all the unnecessary death and suffering of so many people throughout the world…
