When your kid is 8 you have 8 times the toys a house can possibly accommodate. So now that he is at school I am going to dive into those universes of cars, trains and dinosaurs and see what I can throw away and what I can give to other kids. My son is really stingy. If it was up to him he would keep the tiny pencils you can’t sharpen anymore and the plastic shells from Kinder eggs. I don’t know where he got this from. I have many faults but stinginess is not one of them. In fact, the opposite is true. So I’ll be back in the afternoon. My aim is to upload an mp3 file with my voice. Any ideas on how to do that?

Toys can overtake your home; good idea to clean them out. But he will notice that some things are missing, won’t he!? My son is very generous and I find him giving things away to friends all the time.

My kids like to keep every peice of paper. I have always had to do a blind attack. However out of sight out of mind. They never know it’s gone.

My Chicky likes to keep every tiny snippet of paper, too. But, when she is off at school, I attack that room … as DaybyDay said … out of sight, out of mind !!
Have a wonderful Easter, take care, Meow

A microphone hooked into your computer ought to save the voice as a “sound” file. Then upload it into site like you would a picture… it is just another file…

You know I still have plenty of my toys stored at home. My Mom keeps insisting to throw them away but I just can’t get rid of my Barbies and Playmobil and PiniPon
lol
I’m with Ciscokid but he certainly explained it better than I could…
I love that Flying Away song but it also makes me somewhat emotional…

Good play list there.
I think you’re being a meanie, throwing your kid’s toys away when he’s not there. I bet really you just want to play with them.
Best Nick Drake song ever - Saturday Sun.

Toys multiply. Spring has finally arrived where I live and that means filling the backyard with all the toys which were stored in the garage away from winter’s snow. Once again, my lawn looks like a Crayola factory exploded. Why are all modern children’s toys big fat chunks of bright yellow, green, orange, blue, red plastic?
Inside we tell my son any toy left on the floor will either be thrown away by the housekeeper or crushed under my electric wheelchair. Then if there is a particular item I’ve grown sick of, I can just toss it. Life’s not always fair.
Can’t imagine what a Greek Chloe will sound like. Suspense.

You could try this.
If you find out how to do it, can you speak a little in Greek?
I was going to do a post sometime about my childhood toys. There are somedays I wish I still had them…
That’s not odd, is it?

Good luck with the great toy give-away! Please let us know how it went.
As for me, I used to be one of those who couldn’t get rid of anything…then I moved house and country several times in a few years. Each time I move, I end up getting rid of so much, particulary books, that now I’m much more minimalist, and often give away things in good condition as presents (the so-called ‘recycled gift’). But I still envy your son the ability to have that kind of connection with his belongings.

do my place too!
every time I sort out stuff, I still find toys I no longer play with. usually, I donate them to a kindergarten. I like the idea there’ll be not just one kid, but dozens playing with my old stuff.
the one thing I don’t have the heart to give away or sell are my playmobil and legos and matchbox cars. noooooo way!

The previous entry was very spooky and must have very alarming for you.

My mobile phone records anything easily. Then I send it off to my e-mail and voila - an audio file.
Uploading it is not as easy as linking to it (if you’ve got somewhere on the net, like a homepage, to save it), I’ve found..

Save a sample of it as a wav file or MP3 then upload it to Rapidshare (Google it).
