We’ll always have picnics

Food, Work

I am getting ready for the picnic. I have never had a photo shoot for the magazine outdoors before, and I am a little curious as to how the food is going to look like after it has spent 2 hours in the sun.

Although this isn’t going to be a real picnic, I am excited because I am a big fan of picnics. I can’t think of a better wedding present than a picnic basket, unless it’s a laptop, or maybe a new camera, or an ipod, or a laser printer, which should all be wedding gifts, instead of endless towel sets. Anyway, I am happy for the impending picnic.

This is what I made:

-Thin crust pizza with tomato sauce, slices of eggplant and haloumi cheese (it’s a special cheese from Cyprus) -ravioli with asparagus and mascarpone, a Jamie Oliver recipe I twisted a bit -light strawberry tartlets with cottage cheese and an orangy flavour

Got to go find the blue/white check tablecloth now. I just hope the ants are going to be there. It wouldn’t be as nice without them.

-it would be horrible if the
    ants didn’t show up…
    a real slight against your
    cooking…
    which is sumptuous..i know…
    i made the blushing soup…
    …so they will show up,
    don’t worrry…..

Best of luck on your picnic. Everything you made sounds wonderful. I hope the ants wear something nice for the picture.

I was reading your post earlier today at work and when I realized you were going to do a picnic I told my friend and we looked at each other with a pathetic smile - we so wished we were doing a picnic as well. Later, we decided to check your foog blog and drool over the recipes for a while :)
    How did it go?

If I ever run out of table-clothes I could always use my ‘tea-towel’ shirt. It’s very similar to the table-cloth you describe.

Hello and welcome! I really had fun.

    Gina
I’m going to post food pictures tomorrow.
I like Jamie a lot too. I don’t have his Italian book but i have all the others. His thin crust pizza dough is fantastic, you simply can’t go wrong.

    zona
that’s okay. although you haven’t tasted my eggplants. :)

please, my food is pristine, no porn, just good old luv.

they didn’t show up. maybe it’s still too cold for them. A dog came to the picnic site though. He left very disappointed. All that veggie stuff wasn’t to his liking.

    thanks!
you know, i saw the baby niece of yours! she is so lovely.
    mmmm which reminds me…
    baby food.

it was very nice. The weather was warm and with that sun you really don’t need to do much, just arrange the food near the flowers and it looks gorgeous.

    skyeblue
it was work but in a fun way

    vani
thanks, i’m going to post pictures tomorrow

    devil
    you are so sweet.
it went very well despite the lack of ants. Pizza was the best thing. It always is at picnics. And the boys (M and the photographer) picked some flowers (for the pictures but it was nice).

apparently, you are a picnic IT boy
