Day 1 I received Daybyday’s package with two interesting and wonderful cds (interesting because I didn’t know she was interested in that kind of music). I also received Barrett’s cds and a lovely card. Barrett is a singer and a songwriter and a very talented one and he sent me his music. His voice is angelic and I am sure he is going to be a huge success. So I am happy I secured two cds. And he has promised he is going to keep emailing me when he becomes famous. I watched Bewitched on DVD. I recommend it only to hardcore Nicole Kidman fans like me. I watched Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy which was highly entertaining, clever and funny. It has been snowing all day but it is too windy for the snow to settle and I don’t think we’ll be able to make a snowman. It is splendid though. It is magical. I love snow.
“Lovely snowflakes, they fall nowhere else” Zen Saying
Day 2 The meeting at work was cancelled due to bad weather. It has been snowing all day. My son didn’t go to school, the streets are very slippery. We are not accustomed to this kind of thing. M. was going to have his first real presentation of his work in front of an audience tomorrow but we don’t see it happening. Who’s going to go out in a blizzard to listen to someone talk about the Second World War.
Day 3 Bad weather is good for cleanliness. The house is in perfect order since there is nothing else to do. I baked two chocolate cakes and made jars and jars of apple jam. I cleaned the fridge, the cupboards, the drawers, I made soup, I went through my articles, I rearranged my recipes, I put my son’s desk in order. And all that because of bad weather and a lack of an internet connection. When the weather is bad in Greece, that’s the most important piece of news and it monopolizes the interest of all TV Channels, radio stations and newspapers. There is really nothing else to know. Reports on bad weather conditions sound increasingly like reports from the most dangerous war zones of the planet. Still no school today, and no school tomorrow.
Day 4 Hurray! Blondie is Dr. Blondie as of today. She got her doctorate degree with full marks and we were celebrating all day. Congratulations Blondie. Although for much of the celebrating we had to listen to M’s stories (he just can’t stop talking when he finds an audience, a bit like me but at least I write it down).
Day 5 I was able to read some of your blogs. All this time I was wondering what you had been up to. Also, I made a decision. Not that I had much experience with this, but just to deal with it: Once in a while you get a comment that is rude. It is obviously made to get you started. I am very lazy to do this kind of thing, that is, engage in online maliciousness. So, I’m just going to delete such comments if and when they appear. After all, this is my place, not some kind of democracy where everyone can say whatever they like no matter how inconsiderate they sound.

I love snow pictures…and the snowman came out quite allright, I thought.
And of course…congratulations to Blondie!

You week sounds wonderful, Chloe. Dreamy…we were supposed to have had snow this week, but nothing; it fell in Greece!
Congratulations to Blondie; I also told her so on her site; a huge accomplishment.
xoxo

Welcome back Chloe..You were missed.
January 27th, 2006 at 12:27 pm
i can’t believe people would leave you rude comments. unless it was the people you were talking about reading your blog from a previous post?
January 27th, 2006 at 12:27 pm
The answer is 42.
January 27th, 2006 at 12:45 pm
I’m glad that you are back.
January 27th, 2006 at 1:10 pm
The frozen vegetation takes me back… about a year.
January 27th, 2006 at 1:16 pm
You’re back!!! Very brave of you to experience life offline to report back to us how it went
I did go to the post office this afternoon & want to say thank you (!!!) and the music is excellent and I will blog about it later. I will have a CD to send you next week. I’ve posted about the theme I’m working with on this one.
I think your decision (day 5) is an excellent one. My blog was “found out” while you were gone, but it is actually a very funny story for me. (I’ll e-mail)
January 27th, 2006 at 1:25 pm
I meant that was for Blondie….
January 27th, 2006 at 1:25 pm

Good to have you back!!!
January 27th, 2006 at 3:50 pm
Great snowman! What is that bush with the berries on it called–I’ve never seen one like that before?
Congrats to Blondie on her new degree. Sorry to hear you’ve had a rude comment–there is no reason tht that would be called for.
January 27th, 2006 at 4:33 pm
About as much snow as we’ve got now
Glad you’re back online!
I’ve got something waiting for you — just answer my mail
January 27th, 2006 at 4:44 pm

January 27th, 2006 at 4:47 pm
I’VE MISSED YOU!!!
I think you should do what you want, it is your blog, although many of us see it as part of our lives too
I didn’t know it snowed in Athens, but I guess it’s quite high so with the cold weather, it must snow. Really nice pictures and your son must be thrilled
It’d be amazing if it snowed next week and I couldn’t get to work - ohh bliss but this place is too damn mild.
Congratulations, Dr. Blondie - well done!
Have you had such rude comments on your blog? Who’s the bastard?
January 27th, 2006 at 4:50 pm
Oh by the way, I danced horizontally in bed, seriously! It was a little strange but I managed lol

i loved the story. I sent a reply.
i like this themed cds tradition too. ultimate goal: have a cd for every occasion. friends for coffee cd, spring cleaning like a maniac cd, i’m on a diet cd and so on so forth.
ciscokid
i can claim some of the doctorate i think. about 2 or 3 pages maybe. Blondie wouldn’t mind. Would you doc?
geezer
thank you my friend, what can i say, just wear heels with that skirt, will you?
berlinbound
Greece is a very mountainous country. so it does snow. it’s just Attica and especially Athens that don’t have much snow because of that mellow mediterranean climate.
walter
and i’m not going anywhere now. you’ll be sick of me!
etchen
no idea what it’s called. it’s a bush though. Anybody who knows this, please inform us!

it is part of your lives, as your blogs are part of my life. that’s why malicious comments won’t do.
plus, you are all entitled to answer back when you see them. i trust your taste and good sense totally.
January 27th, 2006 at 6:28 pm
I’m so glad to hear that you finally received those CDS I was getting worried that they were caught up in customs.
Yes I do like interesting music, huh? I listen to a lot of different music styles. My perferred choice changes with my mood.
I was listening to your Cd’s just today when I was on the road.
January 27th, 2006 at 6:50 pm
I can not envision someone sending you a rude comment. I am amazed how much about greece I have learned from you. I never realized it snowed there.
January 27th, 2006 at 6:54 pm
Welcome back. The snow looks beautiful … it has never snowed where I live - we have to travel for hours to get to the snow if we want to go skiing. Congratulations to Blondie.
Take care, Meow

Chloe,
You were missed. So very glad you are back!! I think I checked on you every day. The snow looks very pretty. The snowman has a lot of character.
It is your blog…delete those who are not respectful to you. You are way to nice to put up with those kind of people.
Hugs, Connie

We had here some snow too, and I had almost 3 times a car accident. It is veeeeeeeery slippery on the streets.
Congratulations for your friend, Dr. Blondlie
About these rude comments.
Delete them and forget them. There isn’t more to it than that.

It’s colder there than here for once! That’s a good reason to stay in. Of course I will always email you.
I want to see Hitchhiker’s Guide. I’ve caught a glimpse of it and it seems very original, but Zaphod Beetlebrox only has one head in it! Congrats to Dr.Blondie. You don’t deserve rudeness. Thanks for the lyrics.
January 29th, 2006 at 3:41 pm
Also catching up on your posts! I have been cold-y and the only thing there is to do is lie down in bed, read a book, watch dvds, and then sleep, sleep, and sleep some more.
Thanks for the update and I agree with you on rude posts. If and when I get them, I take the liberty to delete them. It’s my universe and I’m the only one allowed to disturb it

i got them and i like them a lot. i think it is strange but also interesting and sweet how we like similar things when we live so far away from each other.
pirate
it does snow in greece. it’s only Athens that doesn’t see snow often. But the rest of greece is so mountainous and there are places where it’s really freezing and snowing for the most part of the winter.
Meow
hello! it’s a pity not to see snow. Modern technology is really primitive. We should have snow at will.
Connie
thanks for visiting every day. I do that too (when i can go online). Bad people are not going to be tolerated. Not in THIS world at least.
Vista
the weather reports on the news were almost funny. it was like we were in mortal danger. “it’s just WATER you know?” (i’m telling this to the newsperson :))
maja
who said blogs were democratic? no no no. They are little kingdoms.
