I am going to see King Kong tonight with Joe and M. The rest of the day I am going to be making cds for friends. This really is my favourite pastime these last few months. The idea that people get to listen what I listen fascinates me. Not because I listen to such great music, or because it is so very original. I don’t and it isn’t. But that you might share the same playlist with me and we might be listening to it together, that’s a feeling that cannot be described. That you may be living in Canada, or the US, or Portugal or Britain, or Australia, or simply in another neighbourhood in Athens, that I wouldn’t be able to get to know you if I didn’t have this site, that I do know you and you know so much about me, makes listening to the same music invaluable. And I am only happy to be making new ones. Next cd is for Harry. I already sent out 3 today (to be honest, M. is standing in the post office queues, I only do the fancy part) : To Stephanie, Cathy and DayByDay.

I like making cds for friends, too!
January 3rd, 2006 at 1:17 pm
Oh, I guess it’s pretty normal then. I just posted a story about my brother wanting a CD burned for his wife to listen to while she was in the birthing room.

Thank You Chloe, and coincidentally, I put mine to you in the mail today as well! I thought exactly the same thing about the sharing music across the ocean…
Love,
Cathy

your taste in music is one of the most appealing characterisitcs of you.
How was the movie?
January 3rd, 2006 at 5:25 pm
The best thing is that you enjoy doing it a lot. I need a hobbie really badly, apart from postcrossing. Listening to the same music can be magical. It reminded me that when you look at the stars, you’re looking at the same place, wherever you are.

What a lovely idea!
Friends of mine and I used to make mixed tapes for one another (back in the days of audi cassettes.
We had different tastes in music and liked to share what we were currently enamoured with.
We’d draw a little paper cartoon cover for them. I don’t really listen to the tapes anymore, but I still treasure the thought of them.

I wish I had high speed internet..That’s supposed to be one of my resolutions..It would make my CD burning alot faster and not hours or days..ugh.
January 3rd, 2006 at 9:16 pm
I hope you sent it with your retun address. Did you send the picture of the cat?
January 3rd, 2006 at 9:20 pm
couple of days back i got a good collection of songs from one of my friend…and its true the type of music one listes describes his/her personality…
u have such a good thought of sharing music with others…
January 3rd, 2006 at 9:47 pm
You should try Yahoo Music! You get to configure you r own radio station and then you can let your friends”influence” it and you can influene theirs.
OH! And you can see music videos!

Sending things over snailmail is so wonderful. That the parcel would travel so far away in a plane and then by road and then to a mailbox sounds so much more interesting than just sending stuff over the internet.
After all you may as well have sent the music over the net - but that would be so impersonal and cold.
January 4th, 2006 at 3:15 am
how sweet!…yeh its always feels nice to share something that you enjoy with others, especially if it is something as good as listening to music
January 4th, 2006 at 5:17 am
Chloe,
Would love to know what you thought of the movie King Kong. Should I wait for the DVD?
hugs…Connie

Chloe, Reading your profile and articles I get the general idea that you love expression in the form of reading, writing, and discussing. I invite you to my blog, where the idea is to express freely.
I have my articles and poems there, some of them may seem esoteric, or even metaphysical, but you be the judge of that.
My invitation is for you to visit as many times as you wish, stay for as long as you wish, read and comment - commenet whether you agree or disagree with what I have written. Initiate healthy discussions. Just be yourself.
I hope to see you there frequently. Thank you in advance for your time.

neurotic missy
i bought a new stack of 50 cds today, so i am warning you!
angel
i read it and it was so sweet. I didn’t like the name Quincy for a baby. It was good that the parents decided to change it.
Cathy
oh great! let’s see what Cathy likes listening too! xx
pirate
that’s sweet of you pirate. i just try to fit my mood each time. what do like listening to?
devil mood
it seems i am full of hobbies that don’t leave me enough time for a paying job!
spider girl
but what do you do with them? I have probably more than 500-600 tapes and don’t know what to do with them.
heidi
and when you do, you’ll make me a cd, okay?
daybyday
i did! my address is on the envelope. I have prepared a cd with pictures for the photographer to print (i don’t have a printer)so when these are ready i’m sending you the picture.
amit
i just love the idea of listening to the same songs with friends overseas. and it’s great that people in europe, america and other places have the same cd from me.
greg
thanks for the idea. But like Heidi, i need to upgrade my internet access for that.
wriju
no, not with dial up i couldn’t! it would take me days. and of course i love to do my little artwork on the cd cover and everything.
ashmi
hey! how are you? haven’t heard from you in a long time.
Connie
No don’t wait for the DVD. All its beauty is in the scenery (the island and how Peter Jackson has recreated New York) and that’s always better on the big screen.
I liked it. People who say it is ridiculous should keep in mind they still went to see King Kong. It can’t be realistic and you have to suspend your disbelief. I am saying that because M. thought it wasn’t realistic at all. Of course it wasn’t! It’s about a giant gorilla!
Anyway, go see it and tell me your opinion of it. (Naomi Watts is one of the most beautiful creatures to walk this earth.)
pradeep K
thanks for the invitation. I’ll certainly check your site. Very kind of you.

τι εχει η συλλογή αυτή?
January 4th, 2006 at 10:01 am
Chloe;
A cautionary note about the cd; it came about because Mr.C. and I were having a conversation about 80s music…
January 4th, 2006 at 1:57 pm
oh Cathy, mine is even older!
January 5th, 2006 at 2:16 pm
I’ll send you mine if you send me yours …
January 5th, 2006 at 4:45 pm

oh - yay! I’m still working on giantwow v.2, chloe. Is it possible to have creative block on a mix cd? I’m actually more in music-seeking mode right now, which will be followed by a more sharing than anyone ever wanted. Hope you’re enjoying the first one - i did see a song on your playlist the other day. Yay!
