Charlie’s Angel: Full Throttle

Food, Work

In a previous post I was declaring my total disgust at being treated like a food writer and/or a chef. I was going to show the magazine people who’s boss and wouldn’t succumb to their sick appetites.

My loud NO shook the editor so hard he sent the photographer to my place last night to take pictures of my food.

My friends brought white plates (apparently he only takes photos of food in white plates) and he brought tons of equipment. He treated my food like a royal wedding. He took photos of my vegetarian mousaka and burgers from every possible angle. He made me slice thousands of baby tomatoes to decorate the dish. He made me stick extra mushrooms on the side of the mousaka, so as to show it was a mushroom mousaka.

Anyway, we all sat down to dinner together. Me, M., blondie, Tassos and the photographer. Sadly, I am nowhere to be seen in the pictures. I volunteered to dress casually but in a chic, relaxed manner, hold a glass of wine and stand next to the mousaka, but he laughed it off. Excuse me?

Eventually, the dreaded editor called once more. He is a bit like Charlie and I am his 3 Angels, all in one: “Once upon a time, there was a little girl who was a journalist, and she was assigned very hazardous duties. But I took her away from all that, and now she works, well cooks too, for me. My name is Charlie.”

“Good morning, Angel”.

“Good morning, Charlie”.

Now he wants an article on organic strawberries, organic corn and organic spinach. Oh, and organic meat. “Don’t be too condemning of organic meat”, he said. “Next issue is full of organic meat ads”. Oh Charlie, you are so brave.

Hey, I thought it was a more grown up photo so people wouldn’t get confused over my age. Plus, I looked like a journalist at work in the old one.
    Nice day at the park?

  3. CiscoKid Says:

    How old are you anyways?..

Photographers of food are very demanding people. Fashion photographers are easier because their models have to just hear a command like a puppy dog and follow it.
Food and plates do not hear, thus, there are always all kinds of adjustments, etc. I think it is a lot of fun..
Yes, food always looks better on white plates for pictures..
    Like your smile BTW

It is true, your old photo made you look like an ideal target for pervs and pedophiles. Isnt this how we met?

I wonder if the new photos will increase your site traffic? Maybe you could post a new one weekly… peopls could write in asking you to wear different, ahem, outifts…

    My. Perspiring a bit.

That Charlie reminds me of my old boss, only she was a woman. How I hated her guts!

I’ve decided I can’t come to your blogs anymore. The title always make’s me think of Cappuccinos, which in turn makes me think of muffins. Now you are writing about food. I leave feeling so damn hungry!
